Educational Workshops
Step inside the world of professional game development
A hands-on VR workshop where students experience what it's like to be part of a game development team, exploring game design, taking on studio roles and working together through the development process to help create a playable VR game.
From Player to Developer
Students begin by putting on a VR headset and learning how to move, interact and play in a virtual world.
Using Putting Peril, a VR game created entirely in GameStorm, they experience the game as players, exploring its challenges, mechanics and design.
They then switch perspective, from playing the game to thinking about how it was made.
Join the Studio
Students join a game development team, take on professional studio roles and work together to design, prioritise, build and test ideas.

The GameStorm Studio Experience
PLAY → EXPLORE → DESIGN → BUILD → TEST
From experiencing VR as a player, to working together as a studio team to develop, test and improve their own ideas.
What Students Experience
Every student takes an active role in the workshop, experiencing VR, adopting a game development team role, contributing ideas and working together to develop, test and improve a game.
Everyone Experiences VR

Think Like a Game Designer

Work as a Game Studio

Learn How Games Are Really Made
Students use the same Agile principles found in professional game development, capturing ideas, setting priorities, working in sprints and responding to testing and feedback.

Ideas Into Action
Students capture ideas and issues, decide what they MUST, SHOULD and COULD do, then move selected tasks through Building, Testing and Done.

Iterate to Improve
Teams work through four development sprints, each with a clear goal - agree the vision, make it playable, make it fun, then make it beautiful.
A Workshop Built Around Your Students
The GameStorm Studio Experience can be adapted to different ages, experience levels, group sizes and timetables. Workshops can focus on the complete game development experience or explore particular areas in more depth.
2-Hour Experience
A fast-paced introduction to VR and game development. Students experience VR, explore a GameStorm game and work together through a condensed studio development process.
3-Hour Workshop
More time for hands-on VR, game design and iterative development. Students take on studio roles and work through multiple development sprints to build, test and improve their game.
Bespoke Session
Longer sessions allow students to explore particular aspects of game development in greater depth, with content and format tailored to the group and learning objectives.
Tailored to Your Group
Workshop content can be adapted to suit the group. Depending on the available time and learning objectives, sessions can place greater emphasis on VR skills and interaction, game design, Agile development, teamwork and studio roles, testing and iteration, or hands-on game creation with GameStorm.
