System Requirements
FirstStage works as both PCVR and Standalone VR
PCVR
PCVR uses a gaming computer to render the scene whilst your VR headset acts as a monitor, allowing for higher fidelity graphics than standalone. Headsets can be connected to the PC using a link cable (such as PC Link) or a wifi connection (such as SteamLink).
Gaming PC
- Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 970 / AMD Radeon™ R9 290 equivalent or faster
- Processor - Intel® i5-4590 / AMD FX 8350 equivalent or faster
- Memory - 4 GB RAM or more
- Video Output - HDMI 1.4 or DisplayPort 1.2 (required for VIVE Pro) or newer
- USB - 1x USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 (recommended)
- OS - Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 (recommended) or newer
VR kit
- HTC VIVE series headset, controllers and trackers
- Valve Index headset and controllers
- Oculus Rift
- Meta Quest 2, 3 or Pro

SteamVR
FirstStage requires SteamVR 1.0 or 2.0 to run. You can register for an account here.
SteamVR is usually installed when you first set up your Vive or Index. However if you move to a separate computer, you will also need to install Steam on that as well.
Quest VR
FirstStage as Standalone VR is an early Beta.
Standalone Meta Quest devices are not nearly as powerful as a typical gaming PC, so graphical quality can be of reduced fidelity in comparison to using a PCVR, e.g. lighting is much more limited. However, FirstStage has been optimised for the Quest and works well, and if you are careful with the quantity and/or complexity of assets you use, you can still make very effective scenes.
